Trinity Church Goals
The goals listed below have been the goals for Trinity Church for the past 12 years. As a result of our new mission statement, the goals were reviewed. Each goal has been determined to be an enduring goal and should be kept. While we continue to work with these goals, in order to further grow the parish ministry, new and different ways of achieving these goals will be addressed during the next five years. Some of the new activities planned are printed in RED.
1. Increase parish membership
• A welcoming event for newer families. Social in nature but with the opportunity to get to know one another a little better. This event will be hosted by the rector and vestry.
• Introduction of new families (with their permission) during the passing of the peace. An opportunity for parish members to welcome new people.
2. Enrich the spiritual life of the parish New services:
• Advent Lessons & Carols
• involvement with Christmas in Pawtuxet
• Tenebrae – a special service conducted during Holy Week
• Blessing of the Animals – A NEW approach. Anyone who is an animal lover is going to want to attend this service.
3. Enhance Christian Education Program
• Revamp our Church School Program. Introduce “Godly Play” a special curriculum that uses story telling to enrich the spiritual life of children.
• The addition of a Lenten Bible study for adults (1st & 3rd Wednesdays during Lent) and the same study offered on the 1st & 3rd Sundays during coffee hour.
4. Increase parish participation
We are already very children friendly but we want to do more to enrich the worship experience for our children.
• Continue to offer them their own child friendly Sunday Bulletin.
• For children who cannot yet read a special Book of Common Prayer that explains the service with pictures.
• The removal of the front pew so families with toddlers can sit up front and feel more connected to the service.
• More child friendly hymns
• Children’s sermons throughout the year.
• Include children in the passing of the peace
5. New parish programs (add as needed)
• “Family Choir” children WITH their parents will rehearse songs to be sung in church as special times. Moms & Dads (even Grandmoms & Grandpops) will join with their children to form a family choir.
• Revamping the Parish Newsletter to make it more an “in house” communication tool. Great emphasis on upcoming events.
• Parish News sheets to be handed out with Sunday Bulletins. Designed to be easier to read and to contain more updated information about parish events.
• Parish events for fellowship and a little fundraising
• Parish Talent Show
• Spaghetti dinner with rock band
• A comedy evening with “Fr. Mis-givings”
• Parish 80’s dance
• Parish 125th Anniversary Dinner
• Other events as suggested
